Day Twenty-One (VLCD Day 21)

Definitely stalling... Was going to do an "apple day" but after I had an apple for breakfast I realized that we were out of apples! So I didn't eat until 6:00 in the evening. But yeah... I went to the gym today and worked out for 35 minutes on the elliptical and the stationary bike. I burned about 300 calories there and then did some exercises at home. I need to get below 150 lbs. I really want to be down to 148 tomorrow. If I am, then I will be happy! Hopefully my exercise will make an impact. Also, I cut my coffee intake down to just two 8 ounce cups today, and I'll continue to do so. I drastically reduced my creamer to two teaspoons instead of packing it on sooooo... hopefully these changes will result in some weight loss

Day Twenty (VLCD Day 18)

Still the same. Noooo... Exercised tonight so may be a change in weight. Also, cut out gum, and a lot of the creamer I was using in my coffee. I'm going to start back on my exercising regime and hit the gym at my school three times a week. Also, I'm making sure that I am at least having 64 ounces of WATER. I'm drinking plenty of fluids, but I'm trying to make sure that more than half of those fluids of from plain water only. Hopefully, some weight loss tomorrow. If not. Steak day. I need to go grocery shopping for food anyways. Had another naughty dream about me eating some forbidden food. I really don't remember what I ate, but I know it wasn't good. Funny how I'm starting to all dreams all of sudden.

Day Nineteen(VLCD Day 17)

Feel like I'm plateauing again. Nooooo.... It's probably because of the super sugary Orbit Bubblemint gum that I've been chewing like an addict. Oh, I how I love that gum. But it has aspartame in it as well as xylitol which I recently found out that the Trident gum that I've been chewing contains also. Boooo... So most likely, no more gum. I went to Whole Foods today on my way back from work. I love that store! It smells so good when you walk in, and it's not full of pushy people and crying babies all the time, like at Walmart. Anyways, I picked up some french vanilla flavored Stevia and some Teeccino. Stevia is one of the only sweetners that I can have on this diet, along with Sweet N' Low(saccharine). I'm glad I found that stuff, because it really boosts up the flavor in my coffee, and I only need to add one or two teaspoons of creamer. I'm not supposed to have creamer, but I hate drinking my coffee black! I'm still getting used to drinking coffee. Teeccino is a herbal coffee substitute. It's okayyy... but it doesn't taste as good as the Nescafe Taster's Choice instant coffee. I get it in the hazelnut flavor . It taste absolutely delish with the vanilla stevia. Yummy!

Slight plateau. No weight change. Need to do some exercise today. I didn't eat anything until 3:30 pm today, and I had to pile on my glasses of water late that night. I was using the rest room alllllll night long. Kind of uncomfortable. Oh wellllll...

Day Seventeen(VLCD Day 15)

I'm starting week three of the VLCD diet. It's hard to believe that I've been on the diet this long. I'm halfway done and twenty pounds away from my goal! I'm so close, and that is a source of motivation for me! My mom said she can see changes in my figure. That's really good. Today, I had my breakfast at around 10 o'clock and then I didn't have lunch until after five! I was okay though. I wasn't really starving. But that had been the latest I have had lunch since I've been on this diet.

Day Sixteen(VLCD Day 14)


I'm down some weight! Yeah baby! My package should be here soon. Can't wait! I'm 20 pounds away from my goal and I'm losing an average of 8 pounds a week. That's really good. If I stick to the routine weight loss I'm having then I won't have to finish up the six weeks. But I'm thinking I should just stick to the whole six weeks so I can lose the maximum amount of weight possible. 130 lbs is just the goal, but if I get lower than that, then that's not bad! My healthy weight range is anywhere from between 111 lbs and 140 lbs. So when I hit 140, I won't be overweight. My BMI right now is 26, which is slight above overweight but I'm only ten pounds away from being healthy. Ten pounds to me is nothing! I really can't wait for the weeks to come because I know I'm going to become slimmer and initially happier! Also, experiencing some more weight confusion. My digital scale said 151.4 and my standard scale said 150 lbs. Well my mom told me she  saw  149, but I'm just averaged the two weights together and got 150.7. That's how I'm going to get my weight from now on when my scales are showing two different weights.

Day Fifteen (VLCD Day 13)

Two weeks on the diet. Not bad, not bad. My strong will to be skinny is keeping me together. Didn't get to go the doctor again... Ergggghhhh... Angry about that. I got the time for the appointment confused so now I have to wait another 2 weeks for my physical. I want to be down to 140 lbs by the 16th. I think I can do it! So my package didn't come in today but I got a confirmation email (finally) and it said that my package should be here tomorrow. For sure. If not, I'm destroying something. Not really. But I will be angry. Digital scale said I was 153, standard scale 152 ish I think. I'm just gonna stick with digital scale today. Was counting on getting my actual weight from my appointment today but nooooo.... That didn't happen. Sorry guys, I'm still a little bitter. But yeah, I'm so shocked as to how fast the time is going. If I was on the 3-week program, I would have been done with Phase Two in a week and would have been on to Phase Three where the diet isn't as restrictive and you can slowly re-introduce sugar and oils to your diet. Man.... I wish I was on Phase Three... But no, I got 4 more weeks to go. I can already see changes in the top half of my body. Not such much in my arms and legs though. But that will soon go away as I begin to lose more weight.

Day Fourteen(VLCD Day 12)

There is still weight confusion for me today, but whatev... Not gonna worry about it. I will know my weight exactly tomorrow fa sho...  Yesterday I didn't work out and indulged myself with two cups of coffee with creamer (which I realized had sugar in it) so I'm surprised I lost any weight at all. Yesterday I also realized that my gum has xylitol as well as aspartame which is a no-no. So my only indulges will have to be cut out of my diet. Also my stress levels are up because I have an exam next Tuesday over six different sections so this weekend will be dedicated to studying and studying alone. I'm expecting a package today and if it doesn't arrive I will typing angry words on my blog tomorrow...

Day Thirteen(VLCD Day 11)

Hey guys!!! I'm not sure what I weight today! Yeah it's a confusing matter. I usually weigh myself on two different scales. One is a standard scale and the other is a digital scale. The digital scale seems to be off a lot of the time but most of the time they are both the same numbers. However, the standard scale is adjusted to exactly what my weight was when I visited the doctor on the 8th. So that one is more accurate. But I like the digital scale because it tells my weight to the nearest tenth decimal point. So, standard scale says I'm 153, digital scale says I'm 154.6. Hmmmm... So I'm between the two I guess. I have a doctor's appointment this Thursday so I will get my accurate weight reading then. Is it weird that I'm looking forward to a doctor's visit so I can know EXACTLY how much I weigh? Yeah... I think so too. So anyways, yesterday I was saying that I don't see in change in my body. I don't know what I was thinking because today I definitely see a change! I took a picture this morning and compared it to the picture that I took on the last loading day and I definitely see a difference! It's amazing! It just makes me more pumped and more dedicated to stay on this diet! So, I've decided to stay on the diet for the 6-week period. I think it would be best. Also, the booklet I received with my drops suggested that for people who wanted to lose between 34-40 lbs should do the 6-week program. In the beginning I was 36 pounds away from my goal. Yep, it's gonna be freaking hard to stay on this diet for another month, but like I keep saying: I'm used to it already. It's nothing big to me now. I'll be done with the diet by March, which is Spring Break Season. Woo-Hoo! I'll have a nice bikini body by then. I had another dream about me eating something totally unhealthy last night, and then freaking out after I ate it and was trying to figure out how I could get it out my system. Like I've already said: NOT GONNA HAPPEN. I'm too dedicated to mess up the great progress that I've made.

Day Twelve (VLCD Day 10)


Still losing weight! I didn't lose quite a pound but the coffee I'm drinking may have something to do with that. I add a splash of caramel flavored syrup (I know, I know!) and it has saccharine in it. So I'll have to cut that out. Other than that, I'm sticking to the diet faithfully. The VLCD doesn't really doesn't bother me anymore. I was in Wal-Mart again today, and I just got what I needed and left. I wasn't agonizing over the foods that I couldn't eat. I'm used to eating little and the same things practically every day. I'm not starving in the middle of the day, and my slight hunger is bearable. I know, I keep emphasizing this but to me, I think it's amazing. I used to be hungry a lot, and sometimes I would just break down and like eat a huge portion of something that was really fatty. And then I would eat something else right after that. Two years ago, I was eating McDonald's practically every day, and now I haven't eaten McDonald's for a year and a half. I haven't eaten in fast food since last October. I haven't drank soda for six years. Yes, six years. I'm only 21. So, right now I'm eating healthy and barely anything compared to what I used to eat and it's really amazing to me. Right now, I can't see any differences in my body, but hopefully I will start to see the changes in a week or so.

Day Eleven(VLCD Day 9)

1 pound down! Woo-Hoo! I'm getting closer to my goal. I also realized that my concealer (M.A.C. Studio Fix) has soybean oil in it. But there's no way I'm cutting out my concealer. I cut out everything else I was using oil in, but not that. I had a dream that I totally abandoned my diet and had a pizza. Nuh-Uh. Ain't happening. I'm not eating normal foods until this diet is over and I'm 130 pounds and slim. That's the only thing that keeps me going. And to be honest, I'm getting used to this diet. It's my way of life now. I'm never exhausted, and I don't have headaches. I feel good. I can honestly work out and not feel like I'm gonna pass out. I'm just used to eating my two little small meals a day. And I'm okay with that as long as I'm losing weight. Because in reality, if I worked out an hour a day for a week and ate 1,700 calories(which is the amount I'm supposed to have daily because I'm very active) I'll lose a pound a week. So, in the beginning I wanted to lose 36 pounds. If I lose weight that way, it would take me 9 months to reach my goal. Heck no! Before this diet I was eating only 1,200 calories and working out 2 hours a day, but that's extremely exhausting not to mention time consuming. So if I have to eat my 500 calories for 3-6 weeks and lose 36 pounds and be done with it, then I'm okay with that. That's really a short period of time to lose weight and keep it off. And I know the sooner the weight comes off, the happier I'll be.

Day Ten(VLCD Day 8)


So it's been a week since I've been on the VLCD and I haven't screwed up yet. Yipee for me! Only two more weeks to go. I might extend it from the 3 week program to the 6 week program if I'm not at my goal by the end of the period. I lost .4 lbs. Not a gain or a stall so that's okay. I went grocery shopping with my mom today and it was pure torture. Walking around in grocery store when you're hungry is already tempting. But when you know out of thousands of food you can only have about 20 of them is devastating. But at least I have some food that I can add variety to my diet. I also bought coffee which I normally don't drink but I'm going to start.

Day Nine(VLCD Day 7)

Well me and the scale are best friends today! Woo-hoo! Three more pounds down. Now I hope that are my results are more stable. I would be okay with a loss of a pound or two pounds a day. Just so I know I'm losing weight. So basically I'm going to do the same things I did yesterday, today. No oils, maybe go jogging for thirty minutes. Definitely work on my abs. I have to work but it won't be for long. I also cut my gum chewing wayyyy down. I didn't realize that gum had so many calories. Each stick has between 3-5 calories and on Wednesday I had chewed two WHOLE packs. Bad idea. But then again that was the day that I only drank broth so I'm not sure how much that effected my diet but yesterday I only chewed four sticks of gum. And I skipped my last fruit. I didn't realize it until later but it wasn't really a big deal to me. Also, I forgot to mention that I misplaced my glasses yesterday to add to my hysteria and then I found them late last night tucked behind a cushion on my couch. Things are starting  to look up!

Day Eight(VLCD Day 6)


Hey guys. It's been a week since I've started this diet. I think I would be more excited if I were ACTUALLY LOSING WEIGHT. Ahem. Please excuse my ranting. I checked the scale and I only lost a pound, I'm back to what I weighed on the 24th which is after I gained. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Yesterday, I didn't eat anything but an apple and I had about 3 cups chicken broth. WITHOUT THE CHICKEN. Seriously. My stomach was growling all day. I wasn't super hungry but I wasn't eating. I practically starved myself, took the drops and I only lose one pound??? The website says if you take an "apple day" or a "steak day" you should be back down two pounds. But I eat nothing and I'm only down one? I am so confused. I want to continue on this diet but if I don't lose anymore weight then I'm going to order some different drops and see if they work better for me. And on top of all that, I started my period yesterday! Maybe I need to add some exercise to my day. I mean--more exercise. Yesterday I did an ab workout and I've been doing that all week. I don't know if I should be running or jogging but I just discovered that my school has a gym free to all students and I'm like wow... Free gym membership! I just don't know... I feel extremely discouraged. It's too early for me to hit a weight plateau. I've just been on this diet for a week.

***UPDATE***
If I don't lose weight tonight then I don't know how I will. For lunch I had two tomatoes and some chicken but less than a serving because SOMEBODY decided to eat the very few foods in our house that I actually eat. But I realized that it was cooked with oil (oh no!) I went to the extremes to cut out oil today: using aloe vera instead lotion, using crystal deodorant instead of stick deodorant and I even cut out wearing lip gloss! So absolutely no oil. And then I eat something with oil in it. Hopefully it wasn't that much and won't botch my weight loss progression. Later on I had done a serious workout. I jogged a mile and did about 20 minutes of intense aerobics. This was for my Concepts of Physical Activity course. So yeah. I basically burned all the calories I consumed today plus some. For dinner, I had the same things for lunch but I went out and bought new chicken that wasn't cooked with oil (I checked). So tomorrow is the moment of truth. Lose or gain? We'll see in the morning

Day Seven (VLCD Day 5)

So, this morning I see no weight loss and I'm like what's going on... At first the scale showed 155 lbs and I asked my mom what she saw, and she saw the same thing. And then I saw 160 lbs on the other scaled and I'm like noooooo.... So I'm having an "apple day" which I only eat five apples and drink fluids. But I've only eaten one apple today and I had broth which is just seasonings and water and no calories. So I'll have another apple tonight. The weight loss specialist that I spoke to yesterday said I should be down 2 lbs tomorrow. If I'm not, something is seriously wrong... Also my stomach is growling like crazy but I don't feel hungry. It's a really weird feeling. Meanwhile, going to the grocery store is torture for me to see thousands of foods that I cannot eat.

Day Six (VLCD Day 4)

So this morning I'm freaking out because the scale says that I gained a pound. And I'm WTF? I've been following the diet to the letter, drinking way more water than recommended and sometimes not finishing meals. So I called the HCG 1234 hotline and talked to one of the 24/7 weight loss specialists. She told me that not only can we not consume any oils, we can't use any oils in our lotions or cosmetics. The body lotion and body wash that I had used yesterday BOTH had oils in it. And it's funny that I'm been using the lotion and haven't had a weight gain but the body wash I used (which I normally don't) made me gain. The body wash I usually use doesn't have any oils in it (I checked). She gave me a list of oil free body products that I can use to make sure my weight loss is constant. I'm glad I talked to her!

Day Five(VLCD Day 3)

3 more pounds lost from yesterday! Amazing! Tried some new recipes off of the HCG 1234 website and they were pretty good. Now I realize that one of the antibiotics I have to take is making me nauseous when I'm taking the drops. So I'm going to have to put off taking that for a while. Did some ab workouts today. I want to make sure that my stomach is the area where I lose the most weight. For breakfast I had an orange plus my fluids. For lunch I made "shrimp scampi" and had a green salad with "Italian vinaigrette" dressing. The recipes the site offered were not bad but the shrimp scampi I made was no where CLOSE to real shrimp scampi.

For dinner I had chicken and cabbage soup but I didn't finish it all because I didn't really like the taste of it. My second serving of fruit was baked cinnamon apple slice. I had a total of 96 ounces of fluids today. Half of my fluids was water and half of it was green tea.

Day Four(VLCD Day 2)

Well, the scale doesn't lie... At least I hope it doesn't lie for me! I'm down five pounds from loading days! Woo-hoo! Didn't expect to lose that much! So I kinda messed up today. For breakfast I had an apple and water, and spent most of my day at church. When I got home I had grilled shrimp and broccoli, and a Melba Toast. I didn't finish the broccoli because it was gross. Broccoli isn't on the list but it's very low cal-- so I figured- why not? Anyways, due to the drama going on in my house, I only had about 3 hours of sleep last night. So after I got home for church I stayed up a few hours and took a nap. Then I woke up around 12:30 am! I was freaking out that I missed dinner and didn't take my drops. Then I realized that I still took 30 drops(the recommended amount) that day even though I only had two meals. With each meal I take 15 drops, which is my adjusted amount so I don't feel hungry throughout the day. So I was like, okay, I'm good! I wished I had drank more water. I was 3 cups off the recommended amount. But minus a meal is minus a lot of calories. Not good at all, but I am not starving as I would think I would be!

Day Three(VLCD day 1)

Hi guys! Ok, it's almost the end of day 1 of the VLCD and I'm very excited to tell you how my day went. So for breakfast I just had a granny smith apple, 16 ounce of water, and 16 ounces of green tea. At lunch, I had made some sauteed onions and grilled shrimp. It was pretty tasty, but an hour later I started to feel really nauseous. I did not feel well at all. I think my nausea was from the antibiotics that I have to take. It says to take the pills with food, but I had taken the pills right after I had eaten so my stomach wasn't empty... I ate lunch around 1:30 and did not have the desire to eat until around 8:30. For dinner I had a 2 cups of lettuce, grilled chicken, and an orange since I didn't eat my second fruit for the day. I also added in the Melba Toast because I had eaten any of my servings of bread for the day. I got confused on the serving size of the toast though--according to the diet, the serving size is one piece of toast. However, the box said one serving was three pieces of toast and I followed that instead. My bad. That put my calorie limit slightly over 500 calories-- 512 calories to be exact. I also drank 80 ounces of fluid (32 ounces of tea, and 48 ounces of water). I'll probably drink another 16 ounces of tea before the night is over. So, overall, I think this day went pretty well. I never felt like I was starving or dying of hunger. I didn't cave and eat anything I wasn't supposed to, although it's hard with all the restaurants and commercials on t.v. telling you to eat at KFC and Wendy's. Fast food is not a huge problem for me though because I haven't eaten fast food in over three months. But I am really craving some pizza... Forgot to mention, while I was at the store, I picked up some Trident gum to sort of help me with any cravings that I may have. It only contains xylitol which is is a sugar alcohol sweetener. I was disappointed to find out that my favorite gum Orbit Bubblemint contained aspartame which is a no-no while on this diet. Oh well... Excited to weigh myself tomorrow morning. Hopefully I can continue on this diet successfully!

Day Two

It's near the end of day two of the first phase of the diet. It's my last day of food freedom! Tomorrow I start the VLCD (very low calorie diet) which I will only be able to consume 500 calories a day. I absolutely will not be able to consume any OILS or SUGAR. For now, I am still trying to adjust my drops dosage. I think I settled on a good number because I haven't really felt hungry all day; I'm just forcing myself to eat to gain the extra calories to prepare myself for the low calorie diet. I'm very excited to start the actual diet tomorrow and to see the pounds shed off (hopefully). Angry, because I weighed myself yesterday, and saw 161 pounds and now today I see 166... Something isn't right...

Introduction...


Yes! So I got my drops yesterday and I was extremely excited. I ordered the drops last Friday, and the site said that on weekend orders, they didn’t ship the product until the following Monday. Yesterday, I got kinda worried that I hadn’t received the conformation email that they usually send the customer after their item is shipped so I called their toll-free hotline. The woman I spoke to told me that the drops would probably be there by next Monday, but when I checked the mail that afternoon, they were there! Nice surprise.  So anyways, the drops I’m taking are called HCG 1234 and they’re one of the highest rated homeopathic HCG drops around. 
You can only get access to real HCG if you have a prescription, and they are uber-expensive. These drops contain HCG and amino acids that produces HCG in your body. Apparently, when the company was using real HCG the FDA cracked down on them so now they have to use a lower concentration. I have seen good reviews for this product but I really wanted to try it for myself. I am trying to lose 30 pounds, and on the HCG + 500 calorie diet, that can be attainable within a month. I am skeptical, but if it works, I will be their biggest advocate ever!

Day One


Today, I am starting the 3-Week Program for the HCG diet. It has 4 phases: Taking the HCG 1234 Drops (Days 1 – 2), Starting the Low Calorie Diet (Days 3 – 21), Stabilization (Days 22 – 43), Keeping Your Weight Off (Days 43 – Forever).  The first phase of the diet is also called “Loading Days”. These are the days where you can eat whatever you want that’s high in calories so you can store fat to be used as energy for the low-calorie part of the diet. The website suggests that the best foods to are milk chocolate, pastries, ice cream, peanut butter, bread (with lots of butter), and pork. Heck yeah! I admit, I will enjoy eating nothing but fatty foods today and tomorrow. I need to enjoy it , because starting on day 3, I won’t be able to eat these foods for at least forty days. L. It’s just a little after 12:00, I haven’t eaten lunch yet, and I’ve consumed 1,794 calories already! That sounds horrible, but I’m doing it for the sake of the diet. Normally, I’ve been consuming 1,200 or less calories a day. I will check in later on with more details about my day.
